Substantially, the term progressive Muslim in Islamic discourse is not a new thing. Progressive Muslims are who have forward and open mindset. There three major missions carried out, such as justice, gender equality, accepting plurality. The purpose of this study to find root cause problem religious exclusivism how role solving problem. Because misunderstandings about meaning plurality can then give birth an attitude radicalism that endangers many people. As result, Islam interpreted religion hard rigid because some people criticize it narrow way. How should try reconstruct his thinking facing according Omid Safi? researcher uses descriptive interpretive methods explain Safi's theory related contemporary problems. Constructive necessary. Not only criticizing hegemony West, but also need be criticized if they display tends rigid, dogmatic, authoritarian towards associates with humanism knowledge.
